The Surfboard Shapers Workshop – Group Workshop is an introductory course to shaping your own board. This one x 3 hour session covers:
The shaping bay layout with stands, lighting and racks and how it all works.
Tools, what they do, how to use them and how to select or make yours, a tool list is supplied.
Building your own shaping stands, (plans supplied) Or kits available to order.
Understanding the custom order form.
Design elements
Understanding the fundamentals and character of boards and fins.
How waves work and their influence on surfboard design
How to decide on what board to shape and ride.
Selecting the correct blank shape for you design.
Creating templates and translating measurements.
Designing your own logo.
These and many other interesting areas of information relating to surfboard shaping will be discussed along with supplied notes and a Surfboard Shapers Workshop DVD. These group sessions are available at certain dates in several locations as well as a regular once a month session at the main shaping studio on the Gold Coast.
